Prayer Letter #337
Facing a New Decade of Opportunity
Dear Prayer Partners,
A new year and decade will soon be upon us. There’s no better place to be at this conjunction in time and space than the almost 3,000-person Chinese Mission Convention (CMC) in Baltimore. It is great to be challenged anew with “Finishing the Task Well!” BFF’s goal is not just to focus on Christian character and leader development but also to forge ahead to equip disciples around the world in such a way that all the nations are reached, and Jesus returns. It still grieves me that 2000+ years have passed, and we have not yet finished the task that Jesus set before us: “Go and make disciples of all the nations…”
We must refuse to only focus on our ministries but must also join together, hand in hand, to finish this great task. BFF’s many web-accessible resources can play a vital role in completing this final task. I sense that God has also given BFF a unique understanding of the process of spiritual development that can speed the process up.
I do thank all those who have been so faithful to lift up and support the BFF ministry through the years. Please consider remaining with us as we move into an ever more ungodly but mushrooming age of opportunity.
Praise:
- I am so thankful 175 copies of a BFF book, newly translated into Chinese, arrived safely and in good condition. This book is being handed out to those considering full-time ministry here at CMC. It was wonderful to enter the doorway to see two rooms full of personal conversations: The NextStep counselor and several people seeking God’s will. You may remember that Pastor Hugo and I, many years ago, initiated this program. It’s being well used by both Chinese and English sides!
- I am thankful for you—our supporters. We team up together as we edge closer to the ends of the world by completing Jesus’ Great Commission.
Please pray for:
- Pastor J. from India has been with us this last week or so, including at this conference. Although greatly inspired by many engaging conversations, he suffers from stomach problems.
- We have about 24 hours left of the conference before we return home. We will continue to meet and sometimes counsel individuals.
- Pray that we (Linda and I) further refine our focus, both personally and as a mission.
- Teaching and preaching in successive weekends (Jan 5 and 12th).
